Finally after many days of testing I have came up with my own durable variation of the crackleback. Introducing straight from Hoot's Custom Flies and Guides Fly Shop: "Roo's Crackleback." What makes it more durable? Well thank you for asking the durability comes from using a synthetic peacock hurl. Peacock hurl is normally the first material to break in the jaws of a trout. Roo's Crackleback is an excellent versatile fly you can use it as a streamer,  as wet fly, as a dry fly, and a nymph. My favorite ways is with a double dropper setup under an indicator with Hoot's Furled Leader , depending on water conditions 5x to 6x even 4X will do the trick. I always use a Jig Pig XL, Jig Pig or Devin's Debacle as an anchor. I also love to use Roo's Crackleback as a tale following a streamer like Hoot's Egg Sucker 4X 3x and sometimes 2X will do the trick for that. And it's not just for trout. Roo's Crackleback also lands panfish; bluegill, crappie, large and smallmouth bass.
